Why do I need physical therapy if I’m starting to feel better without it?

  • Physical therapy will help speed the healing process, and teach you how to help prevent similar injuries in the future. Many patients even say that they are stronger after PT than they were before they got injured.

Q: How effective are the latest treatment tools/ products that Progressive Physical Therapy uses to stay on the leading edge of therapy?

  • Physical therapy can help in getting your symptoms under control by speeding up the healing process, as well as educate you regarding the benefits of specific exercises. These specific exercises will help you restore strength, flexibility, independence and function. Your therapist will start you on a specific therapeutic exercise program that will be beneficial for your diagnosis on the day of your evaluation. We look forward to assisting you in getting better!

    What is an FCE?

  • The FCE is an extensive set of tests that assesses many factors affecting a person’s ability to perform activities of daily living and work. This includes assessment of strength, flexibility, endurance and body mechanics. Functional activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, reaching and gripping will be a part of the test. The testing usually takes 3-4 hours.

The evaluation will be broken into three basic parts:

    1. Intake Interview
    2. Physical Assessment
    3. Functional Assessment

I just wanted to say how much I appreciated the quality of care I received at the Summerville location from Anthony, Sara, and Merideth. No matter how busy they were with numerous patients, they always gave personal attention when needed, listened, and cared. I, as well as the other patients I observed, learned to trust them for their advice and counsel on my therapy. I would recommend them to anyone for treatment.
